About
Following an active childhood as a gymnast and runner, Dr. Laura turned to yoga while studying as an undergrad at the University of Arizona. After falling in love with the practice, she earned a Yoga Alliance 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher certificate from Breath & Body Yoga in Austin, Texas. With a desire to bring western science to eastern philosophy, she knew the next step on her path had to be toward physical therapy. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Physical Therapy with honors from Old Dominion University in 2022.
In 2023, she moved to sunny DeLand, Florida where she worked for a busy PT-run clinic, seeing multiple patients an hour in an over-crowded space. While some patients saw improvement, she knew it was likely short-lived, as they were not able to receive continuity of care as dictated by the insurance companies nor the level of 1:1 attention required to truly address an injury so that it does not return.
Thus, Altus Performance Physical Therapy was born in 2024 in order to provide the level of expertise and care that is required to truly see improvements in long-term health, wellness and performance.
Dr. Laura is passionate about empowering people to get back to doing what they love, whether it be playing catch with their kids or jumping from an airplane, because we all deserve to lead the life we desire.
